Running the Race
The Bible compares life as running a race. Everyone is invited to run in this race. In Revelation 22:17 says” and the Spirit and the bride say, Come!” And let him who hears say, Come!” And let him who thirst come. Whoever desires let him take the water of life freely. But there are those that will never enter. It is not enough just to hear about it. There are conditions that must be met before you can run. You must Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess and be Baptized. Once you have done this you can’t just set on the track. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says” Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the work of the Lord knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord”. Titus 2:14 tells us we must zealous for good works.
We must run the race with faith and patience, Hebrews 6:12 says “that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
When we run in a race we have to follow the rules. When we are striving to go to Heaven we must use God’s rule book “The Bible”, and we must run until the race is over. Jesus said in Luke 9:62 “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.
No one can run the race for you, we have to do it individually, Romans 14:12 “So then each of us shall give an account of himself to God. In 2nd Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, whether good or bad.
If you complete the race there is a prize waiting for you. In 2nd Timothy 4:7 tell us that I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race I have kept the faith and in verse 8 tells us that there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved his appearing.
Have you entered the race, if you haven’t, why not?
